Jodine Chase

Jodine is a public relations and communications professional specialising in issues and crisis management, pursuing an interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Disaster and Emergency Management and Intercultural and Intergovernmental Communications. Most recently, she has been the facilitator for the IFE Core Group for the Emergency Nutrition Network and community manager for a global quality maternal and newborn care research alliance.

She has worked for many breastfeeding and midwifery-related causes through her career including advocating for the re-establishment of donor human milk banks and amending policies and legislation to protect birthing and breastfeeding rights.

Along with co-lead Michelle Pensa Branco, Jodine founded SafelyFed Canada, which is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection of infants and young children in emergency through safe and appropriate feeding.

Michelle Pensa Branco is a lactation consultant and public health advocate. In addition to her clinical practice, which has included both in-hospital, outpatient and private practice settings, she advocates for improved maternal-child health practices at the local, national and global level. She has a particular interest in the impact of trauma to breastfeeding families, models of peer support to improve breastfeeding outcomes and the application of health communication principles to the promotion and protection of breastfeeding.
Michelle serves as the clinical lead for SafelyFed Canada, the national not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving Canadian preparedness for the needs of infants and young children during emergencies.
